Deja Vu?
Summery: the big bad
evil shows up. Riley gets another brush off, lol. (stupid ape-boy)
Authors Notes: I attempted at a twist plot, I hope it's not too twisted. the time line
is kind of off, so don't beat me to death with a shovel if you notice any
slips.
She jumped at the sound of his majorly annoying voice, unlike Angel's soft, deep, sexy voice that always made her weak in the knees... she ordered herself to stop. "Geez, Riley, you scared the crap out of me. What are you doing here?"
"Looking for you." he said. That was obvious, she rolled her eyes and sighed, he was going to make another very feeble attempt to win her back. "Listen, Buffy, I know that we have hit a bump in our relationship and..." Buffy cut him off.
"Riley, this isn't a bump in our relationship, this is a grinding halt. I'm not going to get back with you! I'm engaged and having a baby with the man that I'm engaged to, so there is no way in hell that you will ever get me back. Besides you never really had me in the first place." Buffy told him for about the millionth time since he found out that Angel had gone back to LA for a few days, he only found out three hours ago.
Tears started to well up in his eyes. "Are you saying that it's over?" his voice cracking, he was making an attempt to win her back through the 'sad puppy' way, but it looking more like a 'constipated cow' way.
"Riley, I told you it was over a week ago, and I think the last time I said it was an hour ago, haven't you gotten it through that thick skull of yours? We-Are-Through!" she yelled, then walked off with a smile on her face. That was better then kicking vamp ass.
On her way out of the cemetery she heard a rustling noise. She turned around to see what it was, nothing. Shrugging her shoulders she continued walking. Then, as if on cue, she heard another noise this time closer. "You have got to be kidding me!" she said, then turned around to face to approaching demon. "I want to go home, so let's make a deal, I kill you, I leave. Got it?" the demon growled, well what would be a growl if it wasn't so high pitched and grindy, and attacked her with long talon-like claws barred. She grabbed it, using it's own momentum, she flipped it over her head. It landed with a big thud.
The thing let out another grindy wail and went after her again. It raised it's paw to scratch her, but she was ready and grabbed it's paw in her left hand, using her right hand she whipped out a knife and stabbed it right in the heart, and the creature slumped to the ground. She stabbed it a few more times to make sure it was dead, then got up and dusted herself off. "He's coming!" a voice from no where hollered.
"Let me guess. Whistler." she turned toward the voice.
"You got a really fine guesser there, kid." said the flashy dressing demon as he walked out into view. "That Maragivonian Hound is just a baby example of his power." He walked right up to Buffy.
"Did I ever mention how much I hate cryptic warnings?" Buffy told the short 'demon or unknown origin' as Wesley would call it.
Whistler ignored her remark. "He is your opposite and your match. I guess you might all him your indefinite fate." He adjusted his hat.
"Angelus?" Buffy asked. But it couldn't be that, Angel was human now, and Angelus is just gone.
"Where do you think Angelus went after the sorceress made Angel human?" Whistler asked her in his cryptic voice.
"I don't know, I guess he would go to hell, or something." Buffy shrugged. "But if Angel's human, Angelus doesn't have a body, so how could he be 'coming' as you say?"
"How can you be so sure that's how it went? I think you should have a little chat with your trusted magician." he told her.
"Destiny?" She asked. "What would she have to do with any of this Angelus stuff, she just made Angel... oh." she said, understanding. "So you think that rather then Angel just turning human, him and his demon were split apart. Where did Angelus go then, if he's still around?"
"I can't tell you everything, I'm just here to warn you that now that there is no chance of returning Angelus's soul, and the fact that you're pregnant, might make his behavior somewhat different. I'm sure that he still feels everything that Angel does, so he will come after you again."
"I can handle it. Things are different now." Buffy stated.
"Are you sure?" he questioned her.
She gave him a once over. "I thought you dressed bad last time I saw you, but this time you look even more ridiculous." she laughed softly and continued walking out of the cemetery.
"Sorry, kid," he said to
himself, once she was out of earshot, "This will be the toughest lost you'll
ever have to endure." then he backed up and disappeared into the shadows.
"Willow? What's the matter?" she asked the obviously troubled Willow.
"You remember that girl Destiny?" she asked panting from her lack of breath for she ran all the way from her dorm to here, and that's quite a run.
"Yes I believe so." he said walking around the counter with some books and putting them on the 'for sale 20% off' bookshelf.
"Well she told me to be 'watcher gal' for her. I'm supposed to let her know if anything looks fishy or if Buffy tells me anything weird or something, and you know how I crumble under pressure and I don't think I'll be able to handle this, and they're probably all going to die and..." Giles cut her off.
"Willow!" he said trying to get her attention from her stress driven babbling spree.
"Sorry." she apologized.
"Now, tell me, nice and slow. What, exactly, did Destiny tell you to do?" Willow was about to open her mouth to tell him when a voice coming from the direction of the door answered for her.
"I asked her to be my info person." the girl said and walked all the way up to them. "Hello, Mr. Giles, it's an honor to meet you." she stuck out her hand and he took it.
"Oh, yes, well the honor is all mine, I've never met a sorceress before." he stammered. "But, wait a moment, you've heard of me?"
"You were my mother's watcher." she said as if he should already know that, which he should and he did, of course. "Buffy did tell you that I'm her daughter right?" she asked, getting a bit nervous at the chance that she might have spilled the beans before Buffy could.
"Oh, yes, she did." he told her.
"That's a relief." she let out a little laugh. "Anyway, back to more important things. I think that my little spell thing went differently then I planned." she nervously played with her cross necklace.
"What do you mean?" Willow asked, beating Giles to it.
"Well I picked up on a distress signal from somewhere, I not sure where exactly, but they say that a demon with an angelic face in wreaking havoc there."
"It's Angelus." Buffy said as she walked into the shop. "Hey honey." she as she gave Destiny a hug who smiled back. "When Angel was turned human, him and Angelus were spilt, rather then the demon just disappearing. He's on his way to town."
"Uh oh..." Willow said.
"Buffy I know that you're worried about this, but he won't be that much of a threat. We're not even sure he's in town yet." Angel tried to reason with her. He knew that her first experience with dealing with Angelus was hard and that it was still fresh in her memory, but he didn't think that his people and her's had to be involved.
Buffy sighed, "I know, I just thought that the Angelus thing was done and finished with. I thought that I could just forget about him now that he was supposedly gone. But no, he has to come back right when I'm starting to forget about him." she stuffed stakes into her back pockets and into her specially made belt that had places to stash stakes.
" Yeah, don't sweat over it." Destiny assured her stress mother. "Last time you fought that guy you kicked his ass all the way to hell." she said as she snooped though Buffy's closet. "Hey, mom, can I wear these boots?" she asked holding up her knee high two inch heel boots.
"Honey, you're going to break your ankle fighting in those." Buffy told her daughter. She hated getting Destiny involved in her slaying, even though she seemed pretty cool with it. Also Destiny seemed to have slayerness in her anyway.
"Come on mom." she pleaded.
"Fine, just be careful." she gave in, then she said to Angel, "Typical teenager." he just chuckled, he would tell her later that saying 'like mother, like daughter'.
"Well isn't this a cute picture." he said from his place by the open window. They were so busy talking about him, they didn't even notice that he was there.
"How did you get in here?" Angel asked. He felt weird talking to his demon after years of being in the same body and talking through thoughts.
"Isn't it weird how easy it is to get into a place when part of you is already in it?" he sauntered closer to Destiny. "Well what do we have here?" Angelus gestured to Destiny, and she got ready to blast him.
Buffy and Angel saw this and they kind of felt sorry for him, but only kinda. "I wouldn't touch her if I were you." Angel warned his demon.
"What are you going to do? Kill me? You don't have the guts to kill me." he challenged, then made the biggest mistake of his life, he tried to take Destiny hostage. The moment he grabbed her he was sorry he did. Before he knew it he was sailing through the air and landing against the wall with a huge thud.
"I hate it when people try to take me hostage, it really doesn't made me very attractive, looking so helpless and weak." she stiffened her fingers, and bent then slightly into a claw form.
When Buffy saw the brightness of primal magic forming in her hands she yelled, "that's enough Destiny." she just rolled her eyes and the light disappeared from her hands.
"Spoil my fun." she crossed her arms and pouted.
"Let's at least let her knock him out." Angel suggested to Buffy, who shook her head.
"No, I want to do it." then
she walked up to the very in pain Angelus and rammed her fist into his
face, effectively making him black out. "I've always wanted to do that
to him." she said with a smile on her face.
"Okay, I know, blame it all on the sweet innocent little sixteen year old sorceress. It's not my fault, the spell clearly stated that it would make any immortal into a mortal. I knew what I was doing." Destiny defended herself.
They all heard Angelus laughing from the cage they had locked him in. "Shut up!" they all yelled at the same time.
Buffy sighed and said, "Look, it's not her fault, I should have read over the spell before she did it, and called you to see if it was okay to do. Anyway," she said, moving on to more important things, "We have to find a way to kill Angelus and not risk killing Angel. Plus we also have Glory to deal with and she's still after Dawn... for some unknown reason." she finished.
"I may have a way." Destiny announced. "I don't know what to do with that Glory person, but I can send Angelus back to hell and not send Angel there along with him."
"Remember the last time you tried to do a spell, we ended up getting Mr. Homicidal Manic Vampire back." Xander pointed out. "We have to do this the old fashioned way."
"Wait I thought that if you kill one the other might die too, I don't think that's a very cool plan, if you ask me." Gunn said. "I don't want to be unemployed, if you know what I mean." Angel was Gunn's trusted friend, if he lost him, he's just be another homeless guy trying to survive in a demon infested city.
Willow and Tara finished the spell, which was meant to keep anything away that might disrupt their little demon discussion. "Maybe we could go see Whistler, he seems to know what's going on." Willow asked, trying to be helpful.
Wesley nodded, "But how can we be sure where this Whistler is?" he asked.
"I'm going with Destiny on this one, she knows her stuff. It's didn't say anything in the after effects that the demon would get free. Someone else must have done that." Cordelia told everyone.
Destiny smiled at the once bitch of Sunnydale High, she changed a lot since moving to L.A. "I have a spell that can break the connection between Angel and his demon." She explained, "It's not simple, but I know it'll work, I've seen it happen." she gave a flick of her wrist and her bag appeared, she took a book out with a thought and it floated in front of her.
"Fascinating." Wesley and Giles said at the same time.
Destiny searched her mind for the name of the spell, then said, "Find me the Ritual of the Opilian Portal." she commanded the flying leather bound book. Then at her words the book opened to the correct page and the words Ritual and Opilian's Portal were shown across the top. "This is it." she said, reading over the requirements and the side effects.
"How did she do that?" Dawn asked from her spot on one of the chairs. "That book levitation thing, it's creepy." she said with a smile on her face.
Destiny smiled at the girl that, in her time, was a lot older looking, and is her aunt. "It's a simple concentration technique, some take years to master it, but me with my born powers got it right off the bat." she explained then held out her hands and the book dropped into them, she was still reading over it.
"What does the spell require?" Giles asked.
She read out the ingredients. "Uh, I need an Opilian Orb, a few herbs that make a very stinky combination, a bottle of holy water, and symbol of love." she told them.
"Uh, may I?" he gestured to the book Destiny was holding. She nodded and handed it over to him. "I have all the required herbs here in the shop, we might have to do some looking for the Opilian Orb though."
"I think I have a way to
find it really fast." Angel spoke up. "But it may not be pretty." he warned.
"I know someone here that will tell us, if one of us sings." Buffy looked at him in disbelief. "I'll go if you don't want to."
"No." she said shrugging her shoulders, "I think I can manage singing for a guy."
"You have to sing up there." he pointed to the stage with a very nasty, slime coated demon, wailing into a microphone.
"You have got to be kidding me." Buffy repeated. "I am not going to sing kareoke, it's not going to happen." she started walking out the door.
"Buffy this is the easiest way to find the Orb." he told her. "Either you go or I go, but either way one of us will be going up there."
"Why don't we both go?" he gave her a confused look. She giggled and said, "You know, sing a duet song, like that one by Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey."
"I'm a horrible singer." he said, his face turning at least three shades of red.
"So am I, it'll be fun, come on." he still looked sceptic, "Please, for me?" she gave him her famous cute little pout, while hugging his arm.
"Fine, come on let's get in line." he took her hand and led her to the demon that ran the kareoke bar. "Hey, I'd like a reading."
"Hey it's Angel, and he brought with him a sweet young lady, gotta love that human thing." Angel began to get a little ticked off, his 'friend' was making eyes at his fiancé. That didn't go over too well with him.
"We're looking for the Opilian Orb, can you help us?" Buffy asked, knowing that Angel about three seconds away from pounding the smart ass demon into the wall.
"What number are you going to sing my sweet." the demon asked. Angel had enough and grabbed the demon by the collar, pushing him against the wall. "Hey can't you read, no violence.
"Well, as you can see I get really jealous when another male even looks at my girlfriend, so I think you better just stick to the schedule, and not make any more comments about her, okay." the owner nodded and Angel released him.
"We're going to sing Where you are by Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey." Buffy told the demon.
"Oh a duet. I haven't had one of those in years. About a thousand I think." he looked at the list, "You can go on next if you like."
"Okay, that's fine." Angel said.
"Great." the gross demon on the stage was almost finished the song, "Oh I gotta go have a word with Gunthaire, why don't you kids go back stage and warm up." then he got up and walked onto the stage.
Once they were backstage Buffy giggled, "You're so cute when you're going all jealous and protective boyfriend." she said taking his hand.
"What can I say," he smiled down at her, "I don't like other guys checking out my girlfriend." he pressed a kiss to her temple. "Are you sure you wanna sing this song, it's kind of high."
"Well, it's the only duet I could think of in a hurry, besides I think it suits us, and we both know the words."
He chuckled, "Yeah, but next time I pick." he heard the host announce them, "That's us, come on." he took her hand and led her to the stairs and, being the gentleman he was, he let her go first. And they both walked through the curtain together.
"Let's here it for Buffy and Angel!" the demon announced and handed them the microphone.
He sat on the stool and pulled her onto his lap, you know that way that looks a bit like bride-groom style? Anyway, back to the cute scene unfolding. The music started up and the words appeared on the screen, but they never once even glanced at it, their eyes were locked the whole time.
Buffy began to sing, it song started off with just a 'ohs, "There are times, I swear I know you're here. When I forget about my fears, feeling you right here. Watching over me, And I hope sees what the future will bring, when you wrap me in your wings. And take me where you are. Where you and I will breathe together. Once again, we'll be dancing in the whole night, just like we used to do." she managed to sing with the distraction of Angel stroking her thigh, as if not really acknowledging that they weren't the only ones in the room. "And you'll be smiling back at me. Only then will I be free. When I can be, where you are." her part was finished, and Angel took the microphone.
"And I can see your face, your kiss I still can taste. Not a memory awaste." he finished and held to microphone for Buffy.
"Oh I see your star, shining down on me. And I'd do anything..." and they both sang.
"Be right there, where you are." and Buffy picked up with her part.
"Where you and I will breathe together. Once again," then they both sang.
"We'll be dancing in the whole night through. Just like we used to do."
The she sang, "And you'll be smiling back at me." he echoed her. "Only then will I be free. Then I will be free, so take me where you are."
"Oh, baby, there are times, when selfishly, I'm wishing that you were here with me. So I can wipe the tears from your eyes, and make you see. That every night while you are dreaming I'm here to guard you from afar."
Then they both sang, "And anytime I feel alone, I close my eyes and dream of where you are."
And he sang, "and, we will breathe together, breathe."
Then she sang. "And we'll be dancing in the whole night. And you'll be smiling back at me." then Angel continued.
"Only then will I be free. And then I will be free." then they she began, while everyone in the room was crying at the sappiness.
"Baby, I still believe. Oh I got to believe." then he joined her.
"I will touch you as we dance. Let you take me there." then she sang alone.
"Where you are." They continued the end of the song, as the host walked onto the stage. When the song was over, the only thing separating the lovers' mouths was the microphone. But when the host took it from them, their lips met in a sweet, passionate kiss.
"Now wasn't that the best interpretation of Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey? I don't know about you, but I got chills all over." he looked back at the couple in a sweet make out session. "Anyway, I'm going to have a word with our little performers. In the mean time, we have a special treat for you. How about some rock to clear away those sappy feelings, and Fararoid is your... uh... thing." then he led Buffy and Angel, who had reluctantly stopped their little make out session, down the stairs. When they got to the bar at the back, the demon spoke. "I think that all that love spruced up that voice of yours, that was very well sung, not even a crack." he smiled. Then looked at Buffy.
Angel knew that the annoying demon was going to make a comment about Buffy's very beautiful singing, so he stepped in, "What can you tell us." he ordered.
"Well besides that your love was a very strong reading, but I know where you can find your little Opilian Orb. I have a friend that owns one." he scribbled down an address, and handed to him, "He has some pretty quacky prices. You might want to be careful." he warned.
"Thank you." Buffy said,
as her and Angel walked out of the bar hand in hand.
"I'm not sure, but there's really only one way to find out." he walked into his office with Buffy following behind him. "We should check this guy out before we buy the Orb from him." he opened the weapons cabinet (I'm not sure if he has one in his office, but just bare with me here).
"And you think kicking his ass would help? What's with the weapon thing?" she asked when Angel handed her a dagger. She took it from him, "Is this new?" she asked examining the weird curvy, but sharp, blade.
He took a dagger for himself. "I just think that we should be prepared." he checked the sharpness of the dagger. "I got these from a demon priest after I rescued his daughter from a homicidal maniac Cosono demon." he said flatly.
"Oh." she answered.
"Be careful with that, I don't want you getting hurt." he said, being Mr. Protective Boyfriend again.
She slipped the knife into her boot, she had a little sheath thingy put in for just such a weapon, and covered it again with her pant leg. "All set." she said.
He slipped his up his sleeve. "Alright," he said, closing the cabinet, and locking it. "let's go." and they both walked out of his office.
"Angel?" Wesley called coming down the stairs that led up into the hallway, he must have came back to L.A. because he annoyed Giles or something. "What's going on?"
"We're going shopping." he
quipped, as they walked out the door, with Buffy following giggling slightly.
"I still don't see why they had to go all the way to L.A., I mean I'm sure that there's places you can get an Opilian Orb from, right?" Willow asked.
"I don't think that they are sold in Sunnydale because of the high rate of vampires." Giles explained.
"But wouldn't that make it be sold in Sunnydale?" Anya questioned. "I mean, one time when I was in Cleveland punishing a guy for cheating on his wife, I saw a lot of Opilian Orbs around, and that's like the vamp capitol of the word then."
"I think that since the early eighteen hundreds they stopped selling them here, because the mayor wanted it to be stopped. And now we know that the mayor planned on keeping the vampire rate up, so he didn't want anyone to be banishing them with the Orb." he said.
"Oh, well that makes sense." Willow agreed.
While they were talking Angelus
was as well, to one of his followers. "I said, I want you to get me out
of here. I'm at that magic shop called the magic box...I don't care how
you do it, just get your ass over here and get me out of this cage...Good." then he turned off his cell, that he stole from a guy he killed a little
while ago.
"When do we kill the damn Slayer already, she's so mean to me. My Angel isn't doing the good job he's supposed to." yelled a female voice, with a hint of a whine in it.
"Will you lay off Harm. This kind of thing takes time." Spike yelled. "Now let's go, we don't have all night."
A voice came from the darkness, "The moon is whispering to me, it's saying something's coming, something is going to make daddy go away again." she moaned, "I don't want him to leave again."
"Don't worry Pet. That Slayer will die, and we'll get your daddy back." he held out his arms. "Come here, baby." she walked into them.
Harmony snorted in disgust. "You guys are sickening." she climbed the ladder and exited the sewer.
END.
