Buffy chewed nervously on her lip as she watched Angel light the candle on the table. It was their one year wedding anniversary. They had gotten married one week after Angel had regained his humanity. Buffy and Angel had been celebrating all week, but tonight was special. Tonight, they had presents for each other.

Things had been pretty rough going. Angel had moved back to Sunnydale and gotten a job at the art gallery where Joyce worked. With Buffy slaying at night and sleeping during the day, the financial stress had been pretty hard on them. Their income was so meager that the only gifts that they had been able to give each other were the simple silver claddagh rings they each wore one their left hands.

Last night, after not hearing from them since the wedding, Spike and Drusilla came back to town with an anniversary gift. One million dollars. It seemed he and Dru had hit it big in Vegas. Angel had wanted to know why Spike was giving them the money, but Drusilla had interrupted him saying, "No, my Spike, they do not know yet!"

"Well, then let me tell them, luv." he'd pleaded.

Drusilla had shook her head, "It is not our place."

"Fine!" he pouted.

Then he grinned at the bewildered couple. Pulling a confused Buffy into his arms, Spike planted a loud kiss on her cheek, and patted her back saying, "Take care of yourself, luv!"

He and Drusilla left then, with the promise to return the next night.

Buffy hadn't a clue what they'd been going on about, but this morning, she'd figured it out. It had actually been pretty obvious.

Angel smiled at her as he sat down. Then he reached into his pocket, and pulled out a small box. His smile grew wider as he saw her eyes lit up.

Buffy forgot her nervousness for the moment as she opened the box. Tears filled her eyes as she pulled out a golden claddagh ring, encrusted with diamonds and emeralds.

"Oh Angel, it's beautiful!" she sighed as she slipped it on her finger.

Perfect fit.

Ok, it was time. Hesitantly, Buffy brought out her own small box, and taking a deep breath, handed it to him.

Angel frowned at the anxiety he saw on his love's face. Was she actually shaking? What could she possibly be so scared of?

A moment later, he knew.

The box contained a small gold bracelet, with a word engraved on the inside.

'Daddy'

Well I just heard the news today

It seems my life is going to change

I closed my eyes, began to pray

Then tears of joy stream down my face

"I'm pregnant, Angel." Buffy was looking down, scared to death he'd be mad.

It was quiet. Too quiet. Curiosity got the best of her and she looked at him. His jaw had dropped, and there were silent tears streaming down his face.

Buffy quickly got up and went to him.

"It'll be okay, Angel. Don't cry, we'll make it work." tears stung her own eyes at his reaction.

"Buffy, I've cried a lot of tears in my life, seen a lot of horrible things that had stunned me to silence. But never have I been so happy I couldn't speak, 'till just now."

She smiled. "Then, you're not mad?"

"Mad?! Are you kidding? Just when I think my life can't get any better, it does! You make every day of my life a little more special than the last one. I never dreamed, in all my life, that I would ever be so happy. Buffy, you make every day I had to live with the guilt, every day that I had to endure in hell, and every day I had to fight the darkness, worth it! I love you!"

Their kiss was sweet, and long, and both groaned as the doorbell rang.

As soon as Angel had opened the door, Spike rushed in, and went straight to Buffy.

"Do you know, yet? Dru said you'd know by now? Do you?" he asked in an excited rush.

Buffy gave him a weird look before responding, "Yes, Spike. We know that Iım pregnant."

Spike grinned and dropped to his knees. He then pressed his ear to Buffyıs still flat stomach.

"Hey! Can you hear me, in there? I'm your big brother Spike, and I'm gonna make sure you don't turn out to be a nancy-boy like your father!"

Buffy looked over at Angel. "I don't know whether to be touched, or scared." she dead-panned.

"Spike, we don't know if it's a boy. It's too soon to tell." Angel told him, amused at watching the once vicious killer, 'William the Bloody' poke at his wife's stomach.

"It's a boy. Dru said so. My ducks, is never wrong about these things." he stated matter-of-factly.

"So, where are you and Dru off to next?" Angel asked as he gently pulled Spike away from Buffy and indicated that they should sit down.

"Why, we're staying right here! I just made a promise, a few minutes ago, and I intend on being around so that I can keep it!" he eyed Buffy critically.

"You're too thin! If he's going to be a manly-man, like his brother, he needs to eat. So, you need to eat." He got up and started rummaging through the cabinets.

"You ain't got nothing!" Spike exclaimed.

Buffy just glared at him, while Angel hid a smile behind his hand.

"Don't worry, little bro, Spike will go to the market and get some nice food for you to eat!" he had bent down to talk to Buffy's stomach again.

After giving Buffy a small pat on the head he rushed out the door.

"Oh gee, I can't wait to see what heıll bring home!" Buffy pouted.

Angel couldn't help but laugh.

"Al right, Buffy, one more push!" the doctor told her.

Buffy looked up at Angel with tears running down her face, "I canıt do it!" she gasped.

Angel looked around helplessly. He couldnıt stand seeing her in so much pain.

Suddenly, the delivery room doors banged open and Spike marched in. He looked at the scene before him as if it was an every day thing for him to see. He noticed the despair in Buffyıs tired eyes and did the only thing he knew he could to help.

"Bloody hell, Slayer, you still haven't got that thing out?!"

Feeling a surge of anger rush through her Buffy, used it to give one last hard push. She then turned to yell at Spike, but the blond vampire was no where to be found.

"Congratulations! You have a healthy baby boy!" the doctor said as he handed her the baby.

All was forgotten as Angel and Buffy stared in awe at the tiny infant cradled against her breast.

Well I donıt know if Iım ready

To be the man I have to be

I'll take a breath, take her by my side

We stand in awe, we've created life

Buffy turned to look up at her now crying, husband.

"Again, you've made me so happy, I'm speechless." he whispered before bending to kiss his new family.

Buffy watched from a picnic table, as her husband pushed their two-year old son in a swing. This was their first time taking little William Luke to the park. Yes, after much argument, they had named him William Luke, although everyone called him Luke. Well, everyone but Spike that is. He said Luke was a nancy-boy name and refused to call him that. Instead he called him Buddy.

But Spike and Dru were not with them today. The vampires had taken a much needed vacation to Spain. It was the first time they'd left Sunnydale since the night Buffy found out she was pregnant.

Spike had been a nuisance, most of the time, but Buffy had to admit that it was very nice to be able to trust her baby to him when she and Angel needed to do other things, like sleep.

"Higher, daddy!" Luke squealed as Angel grinned and complied.

The sunlight caught glints of blond in both father and son's hair. They had the same hair.

Angel's hair had lightened considerably, since he now spent all the time he could in the sun.

As Angel watched his son laugh in delight, he vowed then and there to make Lukeıs childhood the best he could. His own childhood had been poverish and frightening. Buffy had had hers taking away much too soon. His son would grow up to know he was loved, no matter what.

Angel stopped the swing. Luke looked up at him with Buffy's hazel eyes and said, "I love you, daddy!"

If I had just one wish

Only one demand

I hope heıs not like me

I hope he understands

That he can take this life

And hold it by the hand

And he can greet the world

With arms wide open.......

END.
